Ashutosh Goyal – Founder and CEO of Flipshope Exclusive Interview

TheCconnects: Can you tell our readers a little about your professional journey & how did you come to your current role/position

Ashutosh Goyal: I always wanted to start my own company, and Flipshope is my dream come true. I successfully enhanced my technical skills with my academic knowledge and worked hard to create the code for my website. Around 2013-14, when many mobile brands weren’t easily available in the market, I keenly wanted to buy a mobile from a particular brand, but unfortunately, it was sold out. I then decided to create a code that would alert me the moment the phone was available to buy, and it actually worked. This motivated me to do better so that my friends could take advantage too, and that’s how Flipshope was created.

TheCconnects: Who has influenced you the most in life and why?

Ashutosh Goyal: If anyone can influence you, that’s yourself, and this was true in my case too. When my first code worked successfully, I got inspired to make online shopping easy for others. In this journey, I faced many ups and downs, but what kept me going was the trust that my users had put in me and that influenced me to do better further.

TheCconnects: What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life & how did you overcome them?

Ashutosh Goyal: Start-ups are always challenging when you have to manage everything alone, but in my case, these challenges actually motivated me to do better. I somehow managed to start a company without taking much support from anyone. Now, after successfully building my own company, the biggest challenge for me is to be an understanding leader for my team and make my customer’s shopping journey easy.

TheCconnects: What lessons have you learned from your professional career?

Ashutosh Goyal: Throughout my career, I have learned this one thing you can’t be fully aware of everything, or you can’t call yourself perfect. As an entrepreneur and human, you should constantly keep yourself updated with everything new. So I make sure to keep my research and curiosity to learn new things as a priority. This thing actually made it easy for me to see all my shortcomings and know what my customers want.

TheCconnects: What do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space?

Ashutosh Goyal: For me, the biggest hurdle is maintaining consistency. Things have changed a lot throughout these years, and many new trends have entered the market. It’s quite difficult to maintain the trust of customers while experimenting with new trends and implementing them. Initially, I was very scared of the new features that we had launched, but when my users liked those features and started using them in their shopping journey, it boosted the confidence.

TheCconnects: How your product/solution can help to resolve the pain points of your customers?

Ashutosh Goyal: Flipshope is a smart online shopping assistant created to make customers’ shopping experience easy and better. The features of this assistant are extremely useful for the customers, like auto-apply coupons, price graphs, price drop alerts, recently used coupons, deals, etc. at Flipshope, we believe that all these features are necessary for people who love to shop online but are afraid to go out of their budget.

TheCconnects: What do you do in your free time?

Ashutosh Goyal: Well, I Love exploring new things. I am someone who likes to gain as much knowledge as I can, and reading is the best way to do that. So in my free time, I read books about business achievements or how a person can change his perspective towards life. I believe that the more you invest your time in reading books, the more calm and more peaceful your mind will be.  Apart from reading, I love traveling and hanging out with friends.

TheCconnects: Do you have any advice for those who want to become chief executive officer?

Ashutosh Goyal: You need to understand that becoming a chief officer is not a cakewalk, you need a lot of patience. Understanding what your team requires, showing respect and empathy to them, communication skills, positivity, and good leadership quality is what you need to be a chief officer and maintain a friendly environment in your company.
