Dinesh Reddy – Founder & CEO at Shipmantra Professional Interview

TheCconnects: Can you tell our readers a little about your professional journey & how did you come to your current role/position?

Dinesh Reddy: I am from a mechanical engineering background, worked for reputed companies like Toyota Kirloskar motors as an engineer and as a Senior Research Fellow at the Aeronautical Development Agency (Ministry of Defense) and later moved to the French Ivy League college (Grand Ecole) ENSAM Paristech and came back to India due to personal reasons.

I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2017 to build full-scale domestic wind turbines (rooftop wind turbines) which is my long-term dream in 2019 I started a private limited company called Golintu services, private limited to democratize logistics and due to pandemic, we had to change the course of the company into pure logistics and semi aggregator. During peak covid, we have delivered 40K+ orders in Vizag.

Later we evolved into a pure marketplace for logistics, super aggregator, and rebranded ourselves as SHIPMANTRA

Shipmantra.com is a unified booking platform for logistics integrated with 35+ shippers across 5+ categories serving all delivery needs of our customers (Business/Personal) from one place

Currently, I am the founder and CEO of the company with pretty good deals in hand and planning to raise seed funds shortly.

TheCconnects: Who has influenced you the most in life and why?

Dinesh Reddy: There are so many people who influenced and shaped my life to this stage, I cannot keep count, but I can surely say Sir Abdul Kalam is one of them. His consistency in work and dedication to serving the society and country inspired me in several instances. Especially his speech in the United Nations has struck me so deeply and to date watch it when I am demotivated.

TheCconnects: What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life & how did you overcome them?

Dinesh Reddy: I can say start-up is the biggest challenge to date I am dealing with.  The biggest challenge I would say is not to win customers’ hearts, but to keep it consistent throughout the customer journey with a lifetime value. I won’t say it’s very easy, but when we wear the shoes our customers, we will definitely give the best and it was the best method for me to handle the challenge.

TheCconnects: What lessons you have learned from your professional career?

Dinesh Reddy:

Always work around the customer and give the best

Stay humble and maintain down to earth status

To balance life and career simultaneously

Show empathy to your employees and colleagues

Learn from mistakes and try not to repeat them

The art of hustling without breaking the promise.

TheCconnects: What do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space?

Dinesh Reddy: With the advent of internet penetration, the digital space has become so crowded with dense competitors. The replacement cost for brands in the digital space is absolutely zero, Customers won’t hesitate to switch over easily. We have to provide the best customer service experience in order to retain customers with us.

TheCconnects: How your product/solution can help to resolve the pain points of your customers?

Dinesh Reddy: Our product helps two ways one for our customers, the other for our shippers

Customer: You can be a business/ Individual customer, you need not run around the shippers to ship your things. We are integrated with all your favorite shipping partners and you can perform all your delivery activities from one single place. You can search, Compare and ship with just a few clicks

Shippers: We provide a free SaaS platform for all our tier 3 and tier 4 shippers and try to bring them under a common framework to leverage the technology and operate more efficiently.

TheCconnects: What is your biggest Strength?

Dinesh Reddy: A great team for the company will always be the biggest strength. We generally measure employees by performance rather than experience. That’s the best index to recruit and retain.  Our team consists of young people and would like to quote some names

Mr. Susmit Wadikar & Veenali are the top performers. They always work and deliver output beyond our expectations that is because they have the burning zeal to give some impact to the company and society.

TheCconnects: What do you do in your free time?

Dinesh Reddy: I play badminton, read books, watch movies, and read some interesting articles on the internet

TheCconnects: Do you have any advice for those who want to become a chief executive officer?

Dinesh Reddy: To build a great product you should be customer obsessive and feel the pain of the customer yourself. That will eventually make you work on giving the best solution to the customers.
