Hanif Hosseini – Founder of Rug the Rock Ltd Professional Interview

TheCconnects: Can you tell our readers a little about your professional journey & how did you come to your current role/position?

I studied MBA in Iran, and Ellie earned her master’s degree in engineering. We moved to Canada from Iran to attend school and quickly discovered that we couldn’t find rugs we liked in Newfoundland. We started because there was a gap in the market.

TheCconnects: Who has influenced you the most in life and why?

Ellie has the most influence over me. We sort of grew up together. We’ve been together for 12 years, and I can’t deny the impact she’s had on my life. We are two normal people who care about each other; I will not say something inspiring if I do not believe in it. We are ordinary people who live simple lives.

TheCconnects: What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life & how did you overcome them?

I can mention immigration and being separated from family, friends, and our homeland. It took a few months for me to adjust to my new situations. I was at the lowest level of my self-confidence, but with Ellie’s help, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and attempted to connect with the community; everything has improved since then.

TheCconnects: What lessons you have learned from your professional career?

Building long-term meaningful relationships with customers allow us to enjoy our work while also making them brand advocates, which leads to increased sales.

TheCconnects: What do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space?

To understand their target audience and conduct user research. Many businesses in our town close down after a few months because they did not pay attention to people’s needs and did not validate their ideas with real users.

TheCconnects: How your product/solution can help to resolve the pain points of your customers?

We realised that some people do not trust online shopping because their photos are not accurate and rugs may look different in different lights and spaces, and because rugs are typically heavy, the return process can be difficult. As a result, we provide our customers with a “try before you buy” service. We also appraised our products for their peace of mind in order to help customers make confident purchases.

TheCconnects: Do you have any advice for those who want to become a chief executive officer?

Trust your coworker and assist them in understanding and realising their full potential. Powerful coworkers empower you.
