TheCconnects: Can you tell our readers a little about your professional journey and how did you come to your current role/position?
Veena S Deshpande: Hello Everyone, My Name is Veena S Deshpande, I am the Managing Director of an IT company called Triwits Technologies Pvt Ltd.
After completion of my post-graduation in IT, One of my friends Mr. Naveed shared an idea of starting a company where the focus was to shorten the gap between small towns and big cities/countries and provide job opportunities to talent from tier 2 & Tier 3 cities. We wanted to be employer instead of being an employee.
Since we were not from a business background, we worked hard. We used to work for more than 16 hours a day, that’s how “Triwits Technologies” formed and also the journey of being an entrepreneur.
For me “Passion is to prove myself and hard work is to disprove others”. As a result of hard work, I have been felicitated with the “Excellence in Partner Team Development Award” from our partner company that resides in the USA. As “Mansion Groove House”. We have also been funded by the government of Karnataka for our product called The Global Scholarship
TheCconnects: What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
Veena S Deshpande: When we started the business every day was a challenge. Right from finding the talent, workforce, clients, and finance. To be frank, we didn’t even have a computer to work on, so we borrowed two laptops, one from my brother and another one from a neighbor. In the very first year we broke even and to date, we have done more than 500+ projects, we have around 15 tie-ups from various countries but they say hard work is the key to success, now things are settled down our future challenge is basically raising more funds for spreading globally.
TheCconnects: Who has influenced you the most in life and why?
Veena S Deshpande: Two people who have influenced me the most in life is Ms. Sudha Murthy and Mr. Narayan Murthy they are the one to whom I look up and improve myself day by day and I want to be like them they inspire me to do better like we owe a lot to some people around us because it is them, who help us one way or another way to become the person we are today. I believe that god, has put gifts, talents, and abilities inside every one of us when you develop that and you believe that you’re a person of influence and a person of purpose, I believe you can rise up out of any situation.
TheCconnects: What inspired you to start the “Global Scholarship”?
Veena S Deshpande: As we started Triwits in a Tier-3 city, we use to visit local colleges to find talented people for our startup, and there we got to know that around 20% of students are dropping out of college due to financial problems. I was like there are many scholarships available that help students continue their education but the students are not aware of it. So I started research on this, there I thought to do something so that I can help students continue with education.
That’s how The Global Scholarship was formed which helps students in obtaining scholarships and connecting scholarship seekers with scholarship providers using a robust scholarship search engine.
TheCconnects: How your product/solution can help to resolve the pain points of your customers?
Veena S Deshpande: It’s not a big deal to provide the scholarship information and links, However, students have many questions and don’t have much knowledge about how to apply and the whole application process, for that they have to visit internet cafes to apply for scholarships, where they charge them despite having smartphones and internet access. So to avoid this The Global Scholarship platform provides all scholarship details and guides students step by step in the whole scholarship application process by creating appropriate videos which we share on our YouTube Channel, by which students can refer to apply for scholarships easily free of cost.
We need to dispel certain fallacies over here, such as the fact that not every student will be given scholarships, we are working with private contributors to generate scholarship money so that a more number of students may be benefited from The Global Scholarship platform.
TheCconnects: What have been the most difficult hurdles you’ve faced in bringing “The Global Scholarship” to this level?
Veena S Deshpande: Like, there are ‘n’ number of scholarships that are provided by private companies, NGO’s, Individual donors, and even some from education institutes. So to keep students aware of the scholarship and help them with the whole process of applying and making them connect with this was the most difficult hurdle we faced. To overcome this we started collaborating with collages and conducting webinars to create awareness so far we are serving students from 450+ colleges and we have built a community of 37.6k students who are connected with us from all over India.
We are aiming to go global and are keen to build “the world’s largest student community.”
