In the industrial and commercial sectors, efficiency and safety are not just operational goals; they are the bedrock of survival. Few understand this better than Arvind Noel Xavier Leo, the Founder and CEO of GAXTRA. With a robust background in automotive engineering, market research, and strategic consulting, Arvind has successfully transitioned his expertise into the dynamic world of Oil and Gas consulting.
Based in Chennai, GAXTRA specializes in delivering end-to-end Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipeline system installations, maintenance solutions, and centralized gas banks tailored for commercial kitchens, hospitals, and large-scale factories. Recently recognized as the “Best Enterprise of the Year (Engineering Services)” at the MSME India Business Awards, GAXTRA is rapidly expanding its footprint. Further amplifying this growth is Arvind’s role as a Channel Partner with Puné Gas, bringing the first exclusive experience centre for LPG solutions to Chennai.
TheCconnects sat down with Arvind to discuss his transition from the automotive sector to LPG consulting, the critical importance of energy efficiency, and his vision for the future of industrial gas systems.
TheCconnects: Arvind, it’s a pleasure to speak with you today. Your professional journey is fascinating. You hold a Master’s Degree in Automotive Engineering from the University of Bath and spent years as an Industry Analyst for Frost & Sullivan in the powertrain and EV sectors. How did you transition from automotive consulting to becoming the CEO of an LPG Pipeline Solutions company?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: Thank you for having me. My journey has definitely been non-linear, but the underlying thread has always been engineering optimization and project management.
At Frost & Sullivan, I spent years analyzing the powertrain industry, specifically looking at global emission regulations, EV battery packs, and exhaust after-treatment technologies. That role taught me how to look at massive, complex systems and identify where energy is being lost or optimized. In late 2019, I realized that while everyone was focused on the automotive shift to green energy, the commercial and industrial sectors-specifically in how they handled LPG and natural gas-were vastly underserved. Hotels, hospitals, and factories were losing massive amounts of money and compromising safety due to inefficient gas pipeline manifolds. I saw a clear market gap where my analytical skills and project management expertise could deliver immediate, tangible value. That realization led to the inception of GAXTRA in 2020.
TheCconnects: Making such a significant pivot requires a lot of conviction. Who or what has influenced your approach to business and engineering the most in your life?

Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: My foundation was undoubtedly built during my time at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and the University of Bath. Winning the scholarship award at Bath and receiving the Best Project Award for an electrically driven bicycle at VIT taught me early on that innovation must be practical and scalable.
However, professionally, the leadership at Puné Gas has been a massive influence. When you look at a company that has been delivering world-class gas solutions since 1986, reaching over 30 countries and executing 9000+ installations, you learn what true legacy looks like. Their core values-customer centricity, integrity, and a focus on clean energy-deeply resonate with how I operate GAXTRA. Partnering with them to open the first experience centre in South India was a natural evolution of that shared philosophy.
TheCconnects: Launching GAXTRA in January 2020 means you started your business right at the precipice of the global pandemic. What were the biggest challenges you faced during those early years, and how did you overcome them?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: Starting an engineering services company when the world physically shut down was incredibly daunting. The hospitality sector-hotels and commercial kitchens, which are our primary clients-was devastated. Budgets for infrastructure upgrades were completely frozen.
We overcame this by pivoting our pitch from “infrastructure upgrade” to “cost optimization.” I used my background in quantitative data analysis to show clients exactly how much money they were losing daily due to residual gas loss and inefficient pressure regulation systems. For example, in our project with Sri Anchanaya Cartons Pvt Ltd, we proved that optimizing their LPG system reduced residual gas loss by 10 kg per day, generating immediate savings of around ₹1,400 daily. By focusing on rapid ROI and undeniable safety compliance (using only ISI-certified materials), we built trust when capital was scarce.
TheCconnects: Having worked both as a freelance management consultant and now running your own enterprise, what are the key lessons you’ve learned from your professional career?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: The most critical lesson is that technical expertise is useless if it isn’t aligned with the client’s business goals. Many engineering consultants build solutions that are technically brilliant but commercially unviable.
Secondly, relationships dictate success. Whether I was tracking the global EV market or setting up a centralized gas manifold for a factory in Kanchipuram, long-term account penetration relies on maintaining constant, transparent communication. Finally, safety is non-negotiable. In the LPG industry, a single maintenance lapse or improper cylinder placement isn’t just a financial loss; it is a fatal risk. You have to build systems rooted in absolute integrity.
TheCconnects: In an industry like Oil & Gas consulting, which relies heavily on physical installations, what do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space today?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: The biggest challenge in the digital space for heavy engineering brands is translating physical safety and operational efficiency into a digital narrative.
A B2B client scrolling through LinkedIn doesn’t want to just see a picture of a copper pipe; they need to understand the technical compliance behind it. The challenge is using digital platforms to educate the market on things like pressure regulation, vaporizers, and ISI safety standards without overwhelming them with jargon. Our partnership with Puné Gas to launch LPGenius-the world’s first smart LPG system-is a great example of bridging this gap. We are bringing IoT and digital monitoring into traditional gas systems, and explaining that value proposition digitally is a unique challenge.
TheCconnects: How exactly does GAXTRA address the primary pain points of your customers in Tamil Nadu?

Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: The primary pain points for our industrial and commercial clients are safety anxieties, hidden gas losses, and downtime.
We address these by providing a comprehensive, end-to-end solution. We don’t just lay a shielded copper pipeline; we optimize the gas-bank sizes for efficiency by fine-tuning the pressure regulation systems. We equip our installations with individual gas meters and central manifold systems to ensure complete transparency in usage. Furthermore, we provide rigorous demonstrations and regular maintenance schemes to identify potential leaks or line damage early. By offering a one-year warranty and using skilled technicians with over 10 years of expertise, we eliminate the anxiety of system failure and maximize cost savings.
TheCconnects: Running GAXTRA, managing the Puné Gas Experience Centre, and engaging in forums like BNI must keep you incredibly busy. What do you do in your free time?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: I am a mechanical engineer at heart, so my free time usually involves staying connected to the automotive world. I still enjoy tracking the progress of the EV industry and upcoming technologies. Beyond that, I enjoy speaking at educational institutions, like my alma mater VIT, for World Entrepreneur Day. Mentoring young engineers and sharing my entrepreneurial journey is a deeply fulfilling way for me to decompress and give back.
TheCconnects: Looking to the future, you plan to broaden your presence to five cities and undertake 500 projects annually. Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the engineering services or consulting industry?
Arvind Noel Xavier Leo: Find a specific pain point and master the solution. Do not try to be a generalist from day one. In our case, we focused hyper-specifically on LPG pipeline manifolds and pressure regulation.
Also, never compromise on quality for the sake of higher margins. In industries dealing with hazardous materials or heavy machinery, your reputation is built entirely on safety and reliability. Source the best materials, hire experienced technicians, and view every client relationship as a long-term partnership rather than a one-off transaction. Excellence is the best business strategy.
