Eric McHugh is now an active member of the decentralized web3 community. He is known for his deep understanding of digital economics and his wisdom on how to balance technology and humanity. TheCconnects: Can you tell our readers a little about your professional journey & how did you come to your current position?

I am a highly curious 29-year-old entrepreneur who is passionate about driving mass adoption of web3 technology, as I believe it can create a better life for all of us.

My past experience includes internships in Washington DC and Barcelona, optimizing ads for Snap Inc, consulting for Fortune 500 companies through the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, and co-founding CartRev, a successful social commerce platform that served over 100 Shopify brands using its SAAS platform.

Currently, I am the Chief Growth Officer at SHOPX, where I am responsible for driving the growth of tokenized software licenses.

As to how I got here, I haven’t the foggiest. I simply let the universe act through me.

TheCconnects: What is SHOPX web3 E-commerce?

SHOPX is the Apple of web3. We are a suite of easy-to-use products that will allow eCommerce brands the ability to earn revenue in web3 without diluting the brand value greatly speeding up web3 mass adoption the real world NFT utility.

My overall goal is to have a nice peaceful life. Can’t do that if the money is corrupt and I view crypto/web3 as the solution to corrupt money.

The best way for me personally to onboard as many people into crypto as possible is through SHOPX.

If SHOPX onboards one major brand, which we have, then that brand offers incentives for their customers to onboard their customers into web3 and everyone wins.

TheCconnects: Who has influenced you the most in life and why?

I believe everyone has something to teach so I am influenced by everyone. If I had to pick a big 3, it would be Miyamoto Mushashi, Lao Tzu, and Marcus Aurelius.

TheCconnects: What lessons have you learned from your professional career?

I learn every day, but here are my 3 favorite lessors

1 – You can escape competition through authenticity, as no one can compete with you on being you. The only one who can beat you is you.

2 – Life is a long-term game, played with long-term people. The rules of compound interest apply in wealth, relationships, knowledge, and most other things.

3 – Greet what comes and bid farewell to what comes. Becoming formless and adaptable and going with the flow will result in great success, or it won’t HA.

TheCconnects: What are the biggest challenges for brands in the web3 eCommerce space?

The biggest roadblock for web3 mass adoption is the lack of eCommerce utility. This means that people are not using decentralized applications (dApps) for their daily shopping needs. SHOPX is a platform that aims to solve this issue by providing a seamless and easy-to-use eCommerce experience on the web3 ecosystem. SHOPX integrates with popular pre-existing eCommerce solutions, making it possible for customers to enjoy web3 e-commerce benefits such as token gating and price gating. By doing this, SHOPX aims to bridge the gap between the traditional eCommerce world and the web3 world, and drive mass adoption of decentralized technology.

TheCconnects: How does SHOPX resolve the pain points of your customers?

SHOPX offers brands a very simple and uncomplicated pathway into the wonders of web3. Brand customers get to enjoy eCommerce benefits. In the past, the value was one-directional from the customer to the brand. With SHOPX technology, the stream is bi-directional meaning value flows from brand to customer and vice versa.

TheCconnects: What do you do in your free time?

All my time is free and is something I guard as it is all we really have. That being said, I simply do what I feel like in my free time. The motto is, don’t worry, it’ll work out somehow

TheCconnects: Do you have any advice for those who want to become a Chief Growth Officer or enter entrepreneurship?

Of course, these principles helped me quite a bit! Hope they help you.

1 – Do not oppose the Ways of the world, accept everything the way it is.

2 – Do not seek pleasure for its own sake, happiness is fleeting, a byproduct of pursuing meaning, growth, and mastery.

3 – Do not, under any circumstances, depend on a partial feeling, your gut or intuition is your second brain, and learn to trust it.

4 – Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world, and exercise humility. All too often humans view themselves as the center of the universe.

5 – Be detached from desire your whole lifelong, practicing detachment can help maintain the presence of mind to focus on what truly matters.

6 – Do not regret your past deeds, mistakes are a part of life and those lessons are now a part of you.

7 – Never let yourself be saddened by a separation, separation is an illusion, a mental folly of mistaking the transient for the immutable.
