Arvind Jyot Sabhaney, Founder of team I & CEO of Zeroin Management | Exclusive Interview

The event management industry is a dynamic, high-stakes ecosystem that demands a rare blend of creative vision and rigorous logistical execution. Few individuals embody this balance as perfectly as Arvind Jyot Sabhaney.

With a career spanning over three decades, Arvind is the CEO of Zeroin Management Pvt. Ltd. and the Founder and Mentor of team I – The Entertainment and Media Institute. An engineer by education, he transformed his passion for organization and strategy into an experiential marketing empire. Today, he isn’t just creating massive Intellectual Properties (IPs) like Espousal and Driven; he is actively shaping the future of the industry by mentoring over 5,000 students and maintaining a stellar 100% placement record at team I.

Recently recognized on the ET Panache Event Managers A-List, Arvind sat down with TheCconnects to discuss the evolution of experiential marketing, the critical skill gap in event education, and the absolute necessity of “learning by doing.”

TheCconnects: Arvind, it is an absolute pleasure to have you. Your journey is fascinating-you hold a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Operations Research from the Bangalore Institute of Technology. How did you transition from engineering to becoming a titan in the event management and edutainment space?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: Thank you for having me. The transition might seem like a massive leap, but Operations Research is essentially about optimizing complex systems and making better decisions-which is exactly what event management is at its core!

I started Zeroin Management Pvt. Ltd. back in 1991. For over two decades, we focused on experiential events, brand engagement, and strategic MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) solutions. However, as the industry grew, I noticed a glaring problem: a massive skill gap. Companies were scaling, but the talent pool lacked practical, on-the-ground training.

That realization gave birth to team I. I wanted to build an institute that didn’t just teach from textbooks but threw students into the fire of real-world execution. We set up a sprawling 7-acre campus to bridge the gap between raw talent and actual industry demands. I didn’t abandon my engineering roots; I just started engineering experiences and careers instead of machines.

TheCconnects: You’ve mentored over 5,000 students and guided countless corporate accounts. Who or what has influenced you the most throughout this 30+ year journey?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: My greatest influence has been the evolving nature of the live audience. You can never get too comfortable in this industry because human attention and expectations are always shifting.

From a professional standpoint, strategic partnerships have shaped my vision immensely. Our collaboration at team I with DNA Entertainment Networks is a prime example. They handle massive global properties like the IPL, the Ambani weddings, and the RCB Unboxing. Working alongside industry giants forces you to elevate your own standards. But on a personal level, my students influence me daily. I’ve spent nearly three decades resolving the “zillion career options” dilemma for youth. Their raw enthusiasm, fresh perspectives, and sheer drive keep me grounded and constantly innovating.

TheCconnects: Building a business like Zeroin and an institute like team I must have come with immense hurdles. What are the biggest challenges you have faced, and how did you overcome them?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: One of the biggest challenges historically was the perception of event management. For a long time, it was viewed as an unorganized sector-a hobby rather than a serious, multi-billion-dollar corporate profession.

When we started team I, the challenge was convincing both students and the industry that event education required a structured, qualitative approach. We overcame this by implementing a strict 50% theory and 50% practical curriculum. We didn’t just hand out certificates; we integrated a 2-month internship and put them to work on live projects. When top agencies like Phase 1, Acme Events, and Madison Turnt saw that our graduates were “job-ready” from day one, the perception completely shifted. Achieving and maintaining a 100% placement record was our ultimate proof of concept.

TheCconnects: Through Zeroin, you’ve created some incredibly unique Intellectual Properties (IPs) like Driven, Espousal, and UCL. How do these IPs address the specific pain points of modern brands and consumers?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: Traditional advertising is becoming white noise. Brands today struggle to create genuine, memorable connections. Our IPs are designed to solve that exact pain point by offering immersive experiences.

Take Driven – A Woman’s Rally, for instance. It’s not just a drive; it’s a purpose-led movement celebrating empowered women, offering brands a platform to align with a powerful social narrative. Espousal is India’s first experiential wedding expo, merging couture, design, and technology to simplify the fragmented wedding planning process for modern couples. And UCL (Ultimate Corporate League) brings the boardroom to the battleground, solving the corporate need for high-energy team building. We don’t just manage events; we design narratives that connect people to brands in a loud, memorable way.

TheCconnects: The digital landscape has revolutionized how we consume content. As an experiential marketing expert, what do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space today?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: The biggest challenge is digital fatigue. The virtual events market was valued at $78 billion in 2023 and is expected to hit $366 billion by 2030. But staring at a screen is inherently isolating.

Brands are struggling to replicate the visceral energy of a live concert or a bustling expo through a monitor. The solution moving forward is the hybrid event. Brands need to seamlessly integrate digital reach with physical, tactile experiences. You have to create a live event that is so visually and emotionally compelling that the digital audience feels the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), while ensuring the physical attendees become your organic digital ambassadors.

TheCconnects: Looking back at your tenure as MD of Zeroin and President of the Karnataka Event Management Association (KEMA), what key lessons stand out to you?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: First, execution is everything. A brilliant idea is entirely useless if the logistics fail.

Second, learning by doing is the only way to master this craft. You cannot learn crisis management from a PowerPoint slide; you learn it when a microphone dies in front of 10,000 people.

And finally, never lose your sense of humor or your distinct personality. I like to say, borrowing a line from Jack Nicholson: “With my sunglasses on, I’m Arvind J Sabhaney. Without them, I’m boring, fat, and cynical.” You have to bring your authentic, energetic self to this business because, at the end of the day, we are in the business of human connection.

TheCconnects: With such a demanding dual role as a CEO and an educator, what do you do in your free time?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: My work and my passion are deeply intertwined, so it rarely feels like “work.” Even in my downtime, I find myself analyzing global job trends to better guide students who are stuck at a career crossroads. Beyond that, my work as the President of KEMA allows me to network and advocate for the experiential marketing industry across Karnataka. I truly enjoy mentoring, conceptualizing new IPs, and reading up on where the $2.2 trillion global event market is heading next.

TheCconnects: Finally, what advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the events and media industry today?

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: The Indian event management market is growing at a staggering 20% CAGR. The opportunities are massive, but the margin for error is razor-thin.

My advice is simple: Get your hands dirty. Don’t just sit in an air-conditioned office drafting proposals. Volunteer, intern, carry cables, and manage a registration desk. You have to understand the anatomy of an event from the ground up. Build genuine relationships, because this industry runs entirely on trust and vendor reliability. And above all, focus on upskilling. The future belongs to those who can master both the creative storytelling and the technological innovations driving this new era of hybrid events.

TheCconnects: Arvind, thank you so much for your time and candor. It’s incredibly refreshing to hear a leader emphasize the daily grind, the humor, and the genuine human connection that goes into creating world-class experiences. Your work with Zeroin and team I is clearly setting a gold standard for the industry.

Arvind Jyot Sabhaney: Thank you for having me. It’s been an absolute pleasure. To anyone reading this who wants to make a mark in the experiential space-put your sunglasses on, get out there, and start building.
