Welcome, Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi! It is an absolute pleasure to have you with us today. First of all, a massive congratulations on your recent accolades, including the Outstanding Structural Consultancy Award at our Growth Story Summit & Awards 2026, and your ongoing success with D2D Engineers over the last nine years. Given your packed schedule-juggling nine branches across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, overseeing massive government infrastructure projects, and actively engaging in your political duties in Visakhapatnam-we truly appreciate you taking the time for this conversation. How have you been, and how is the energy at the D2D headquarters lately?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: Thank you so much for the warm welcome! It is wonderful to be sitting down with TheCconnects again. It has definitely been a whirlwind of a year, but the energy at our Visakhapatnam headquarters is phenomenal. We are continuously expanding our footprint, adopting advanced construction technologies, and onboarding brilliant young talent. Balancing business, community service, and public life is certainly demanding, but when you are deeply passionate about building strong foundations-both in physical infrastructure and in society-it never really feels like work. I am very excited to dive into this conversation with you.
TheCconnects: That passion certainly reflects in your work and your firm’s reputation. Let’s start from the beginning for our readers. Can you tell us a little about your professional journey? How did you transition from an engineering graduate to the Founder of one of the fastest-growing structural consultancy firms in the region?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: My journey has been a progression of continuous, hands-on learning. I completed my B.Tech in Civil Engineering from GMRIT in 2010. Right after passing out, I wanted to understand the practical realities of large-scale construction, so I joined NCC Ltd as a Structural Engineer. However, I realized early on that to design truly resilient, future-proof structures, I needed deeper technical expertise. That realization led me to pursue my M.Tech in Structures at Andhra University.
After completing my master’s, I spent some time as a faculty member at Wellfare College. Teaching gave me immense clarity; it taught me how to break down highly complex structural theories into actionable, easy-to-understand concepts. I later transitioned back into the corporate industry as a Project Manager for Ms. Ramayya Constructions. By September 2017, I noticed a glaring gap in the market: clients were constantly struggling to find a single, reliable entity that offered both stunning architectural aesthetics and uncompromising structural stability. That is exactly why Desire 2 Design (D2D) Engineers was born. Over the past nine years, we have organically grown from a single boutique office to a trusted household name with nine branches and over 1,000 completed projects.
TheCconnects: Entrepreneurship is a challenging path. Who has influenced you the most in your life and why?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: It is hard to pinpoint just one person, as I am a product of many great mentors. Professionally, my professors at Andhra University profoundly shaped my analytical thinking and engineering discipline. But on a highly practical level, the veteran site workers, foremen, and masons I interacted with early in my career were my greatest influencers. They don’t just read blueprints; they read the soil, they understand the weather, and they know how materials behave under stress. They taught me that engineering isn’t just a desk job-it is a gritty, field-based discipline.
On a personal level, the ethos of giving back to society was instilled in me by my family. It’s the core reason why, alongside scaling a business, I’ve committed to public service and CSR initiatives. True leadership is about lifting your community as you climb.
TheCconnects: Scaling a business to handle 1,000+ projects is a massive feat. What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your career, and how did you overcome them?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: One of the most significant challenges in the early days was building initial trust. In structural engineering, you are directly responsible for human lives and lifelong financial investments. When D2D was a young startup, convincing large-scale developers and government bodies to trust us over legacy firms was an uphill battle.
We overcame this by over-delivering on transparency and technical precision. We introduced zero-error BIM modeling, detailed itemized cost estimates with absolutely no hidden charges, and advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services. When we successfully executed high-pressure projects-like the first COVID Vaccine Building for the Military Engineering Services and the Raithu Bharosa Godowns for the state government-our work began to speak for itself. We stopped “selling” our services and started proving our reliability.
TheCconnects: What key lessons have you learned from navigating these high-stakes projects?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: The biggest lesson is that there is no substitute for ethical integrity. You can cut corners to save time or money, but in civil engineering, those decisions will always surface eventually. Another crucial lesson is the importance of team empowerment. You cannot scale a company if you are micromanaging every blueprint. I had to learn to build robust systems, train my project managers effectively, and trust them to execute our vision.
TheCconnects: Today, every business must have a strong digital footprint. What do you see as the biggest challenge for engineering and construction brands in the digital space?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: The biggest challenge is communicating technical credibility in a visually driven digital world. Anyone can post an attractive 3D elevation or a rendered floor plan on social media, but how do you digitally convey the hidden strength of a foundation, the precision of a structural grid, or the rigorous safety protocols followed on-site? For brands in our space, the challenge is bridging the gap between “looking good” online and “being structurally sound” in reality. We tackle this by sharing behind-the-scenes content, on-site execution videos, and educational posts that highlight the science and engineering behind the beautiful aesthetics.
TheCconnects: The construction market is highly competitive. How do D2D’s services uniquely address your customers’ pain points?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: The most common pain point for property owners is dealing with multiple, uncoordinated vendors. An architect designs a beautiful plan, a structural engineer alters it for safety, and a contractor modifies it again during execution to cut costs. The client is left exhausted, dealing with delays and massive cost overruns.
D2D addresses this by providing premium, end-to-end turnkey solutions. We handle everything under one roof-from the initial soil testing, 2D/3D elevations, and interior design to the final on-site project execution. By offering complete project monitoring and transparent, package-based pricing, we guarantee zero cost overruns and give our clients absolute peace of mind.
TheCconnects: Beyond structural engineering, you are heavily involved in community building. You’ve been honored with the Kamalpatra Award, the Young Person Award from JCI, and you’ve stepped into politics as a member of the 97th ward for Janasena. What drives this, and what do you do in your rare free time?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: Engineering builds cities, but empathy and active participation build communities. I firmly believe that educated professionals have a moral obligation to contribute to policy-making and grassroots development. Whether it’s providing internships and training to over 150 young civil engineers, organizing our annual August 15th blood donation drives, or serving my constituents in the 97th ward, the goal is exactly the same: to create a structurally sound, empowered, and safe society.
As for free time, it is definitely a luxury! But when I do get a moment, I enjoy reading up on global urban planning trends, mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, and spending quiet, quality time with my family, who are my ultimate grounding force.
TheCconnects: Do you have any final advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and young engineers looking to enter the infrastructure industry?
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: My advice is simple: Never compromise on your ethics, and never stop learning. The construction industry is evolving rapidly with new sustainable materials, AI integration, and smart infrastructure. Stay updated. Also, remember that a strong reputation takes decades to build and only one poorly executed project to destroy. Focus on uncompromising quality, treat your workforce with deep respect, and always prioritize the safety of the end-user over short-term profits.
TheCconnects: Those are truly words to live by. Thank you so much for joining with us today, Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi. It has been an absolute privilege to learn about your journey, your vision for D2D Engineers, and your steadfast commitment to the community. We wish you continued success in all your future endeavors!
Soma Sekhar Naidu Senapathi: Thank you for having me. It was a great conversation, and I deeply appreciate the platform to share my story with your readers.
