Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam, Founder & CEO of HealGlobe and Physiohood | Exclusive Interview

Welcome, Dr. Prathyusha! It is an absolute privilege to have you with us today. You stand at a very unique intersection in the healthcare industry-combining deep clinical expertise with cutting-edge health-tech entrepreneurship. As the founder of Gyan Infosys Private Limited, you’ve launched two highly impactful platforms: HealGlobe, India’s first AI-enabled end-to-end surgical recovery platform, and Physiohood, a rapidly growing digital physiotherapy ecosystem. Balancing international medical value travel, AI-driven healthcare coordination, and a vast network of rehabilitation professionals is a massive undertaking. We truly appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to speak with us. How are you doing, and what has been keeping you most energized lately?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: Thank you so much for the warm welcome! It is wonderful to sit down with TheCconnects. I am doing great. What keeps me most energized right now is the sheer momentum we are seeing in digital healthcare adoption. We are currently scaling Physiohood across new cities and aggressively expanding HealGlobe’s international partnerships to make cross-border healthcare more seamless. Knowing that our platforms are actively helping patients find the right surgeons, recover faster, and regain their mobility is the ultimate daily motivation.

TheCconnects: Your journey is incredibly inspiring. You hold a Master of Physiotherapy in Orthopedics and practiced as a clinician for years before jumping into the startup world. What sparked that transition from working directly with patients to becoming a health-tech founder?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: The transition was born entirely out of frustration with the systemic gaps I saw as a practicing physiotherapist. In the clinic, I was treating patients recovering from major surgeries-joint replacements, spinal fusions, sports injuries. I realized that the actual surgery is only 50% of the battle; the other 50% is structured, continuous rehabilitation.

However, patients were struggling. They were getting discharged and then completely left to navigate their recovery on their own. Finding a verified, certified physiotherapist was a nightmare for them. On a broader scale, I saw international patients flying into India for complex procedures, only to be left completely unguided once the surgery was over. I realized that treating patients one-on-one in a clinic limited my impact. I wanted to build scalable technology that bridged the gap between the operating table and full recovery. That vision led to the creation of Gyan Infosys, and subsequently, HealGlobe and Physiohood.

TheCconnects: Let’s talk about HealGlobe. India is a global hub for medical tourism, but HealGlobe is positioned differently-as an AI-enabled “surgical recovery platform.” Why is this focus on recovery and continuity of care so critical for international patients?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: Traditional medical tourism is highly transactional. A broker connects a patient to a hospital, the surgery happens, the bill is paid, and the relationship ends. But healthcare doesn’t work that way. If a patient flies in from Africa or the Middle East for a Total Knee Replacement or a complex Spinal Cord surgery, their outcome heavily depends on what happens after they leave the hospital.

At HealGlobe, we don’t just facilitate treatment; we manage the entire healing journey. Our AI-powered engine matches international patients with the right JCI and NABH accredited hospitals based on their specific condition, urgency, and budget, ensuring 100% transparent pricing. But our true differentiator is post-operative care. We integrate physiotherapy, mental wellness, diet planning, and long-term digital follow-ups into their package. When a patient uses HealGlobe, they aren’t just buying a surgery; they are securing complete, guided recovery.

TheCconnects: That level of integration brings us perfectly to Physiohood. What was the core problem you were trying to solve with this platform, and how does it change the experience for a patient in pain?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: The core problem in the physiotherapy market is a lack of trust and accessibility. If you wake up with severe cervical spondylosis or you have an aging parent needing stroke rehabilitation, you usually rely on word-of-mouth to find a physio. You have no way of verifying their credentials, and traveling to a clinic while in severe pain is counterproductive.

Physiohood digitizes and democratizes that access. We have built an ecosystem of over 500 background-verified, professionally certified physiotherapists. Through our platform, a patient can book a home visit or an online session in minutes. Every treatment plan is personalized-no generic routines. We handle everything from post-surgery rehab and sports injuries to posture-related pain for corporate professionals. By bringing healthcare-grade standards to a digital-first platform, we’ve been able to achieve a 95% success rate for our patients.

TheCconnects: Building these platforms sounds incredibly complex, especially when coordinating cross-border logistics and healthcare data. What are the biggest challenges you have faced as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome them?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: The most significant challenge was building trust in an industry where the stakes are quite literally life and death. Convincing an international patient to trust an AI-driven platform with their surgical journey requires absolute transparency. In the early days, aligning hospitals, doctors, and logistics providers onto a single, seamless digital ecosystem was a massive operational hurdle.

We overcame this by being obsessive about vetting and quality control. For Physiohood, we implemented a strict, multi-tier verification process so that only highly qualified professionals make it onto the platform. For HealGlobe, we focused heavily on building a multilingual global patient helpdesk and deploying dedicated Care Managers. We realized that while AI is brilliant for matching and data analysis, the human touch is what actually builds trust. We use technology to handle the logistics, so our human care managers can focus entirely on empathy and support.

TheCconnects: What do you see as the biggest challenge for digital health brands trying to scale in today’s highly competitive market?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: The biggest challenge is moving beyond just being a “directory.” Many digital health platforms today are essentially just digital phonebooks-they list doctors and hospitals but take no ownership of the clinical outcome. Patients are tired of fragmented experiences. The challenge for health-tech brands is interoperability and accountability. A brand will only survive if it can provide an integrated ecosystem. Patients want a platform that can store their digital health records, facilitate a virtual consultation, book a surgery, and arrange their post-op rehab, all without forcing them to jump between five different apps.

TheCconnects: With such a demanding professional life, running multiple ventures and managing partnerships, what do you do in your free time to decompress?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: Free time is definitely a luxury these days! But I firmly believe that you cannot pour from an empty cup, especially in the healthcare sector. I try to practice what we preach on our platforms-staying active and maintaining physical wellness. I enjoy reading up on global tech innovations and AI advancements. I also love networking and brainstorming with other startup founders; there is a unique energy in the startup community that I find very recharging. Above all, spending quality time with my family helps keep me grounded.

TheCconnects: As we wrap up this fantastic conversation, what advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly medical professionals who want to venture into health-tech?

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: My biggest piece of advice to clinicians entering the tech space is: don’t build technology just for the sake of technology. Build it to solve a very specific pain point that you have personally witnessed in your practice. You have a massive advantage because you understand clinical workflows and patient empathy in a way that pure tech founders often do not.

Also, understand that the patient’s journey never ends at the prescription pad or the operating room door. If you are building a health-tech solution, design it for the long term. Focus on continuity of care. Finally, embrace collaboration. You cannot fix healthcare alone-partner with hospitals, clinics, and developers who share your vision for a more accessible, transparent ecosystem.

TheCconnects: That is brilliant and highly actionable advice. Thank you so much for joining us today, Dr. Prathyusha. It has been an absolute honor to explore your journey, the incredible impact of HealGlobe and Physiohood, and your vision for a deeply connected global healthcare ecosystem. We wish you continued success in all your ventures!

Dr. Prathyusha Thoutam: Thank you so much for having me. It was a wonderful conversation, and I deeply appreciate TheCconnects for providing such a fantastic platform to share our mission with your readers.
