Jeevana Indu, Founder & Director of Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery | Exclusive Interview

Welcome, Jeevana Indu! It is a profound privilege to have you with us today. First and foremost, a massive congratulations on receiving the Visionary Woman Entrepreneur Award and being honored for the Iconic Designer Jewellery Brand of the Year. From your humble beginnings to establishing Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery and building the massively popular digital community “Pearls Speaks,” your journey is the epitome of resilience. You manage a flagship store in Hyderabad, supply over 140 global sellers, and balance life as a mother and a visionary leader. Thank you for taking the time out of your demanding schedule to speak with us. How have you been, and what is the energy like at your flagship store these days?

Jeevana Indu: Thank you so much for the incredibly warm welcome! It is truly an honor to sit down with TheCconnects. I have been doing very well. The energy at the showroom right now is vibrant and beautifully chaotic. We are constantly interacting with brides, curating customized Jadau Kundan pieces, and preparing for our next major business phase. When you are deeply passionate about what you build every single day, the exhaustion just feels like progress. I’m thrilled to be here and share my story with you.

TheCconnects: Your story is one that many need to hear. You didn’t inherit a business empire; you built it from the ground up. You were an Automobile Engineering graduate who transitioned into the corporate world, breaking records in the health insurance sector. How did you go from being a top-performing corporate manager to the founder of a luxury jewellery brand?

Jeevana Indu: It certainly wasn’t a conventional path. I come from a lower-middle-class family. When my father left us during my childhood, my mother became my ultimate pillar of strength. She taught me early on that life doesn’t owe you anything-you have to create your own opportunities. Even though I topped my Automobile Engineering class, circumstances didn’t allow me to take up campus placements. But I didn’t see it as a roadblock. I started at a Volkswagen dealership and then moved into the insurance sector.

That is where I discovered my absolute love for business development. At Apollo Munich, I built a team of over 80 advisors and generated ₹25 lakhs of business in a single quarter-a record that stands even today. I was the only woman from the South region to qualify for the international award in Singapore. I loved the corporate hustle, and it eventually led me to a leadership role at Aditya Birla Health Insurance. But while my career was peaking, my personal life hit a tragic turning point that changed my entire trajectory.

TheCconnects: Life often tests us in ways no corporate challenge ever could. You’ve been very open about how your mother’s battle with cancer was the true catalyst for Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery. Could you share how that difficult period shaped your current legacy?

Jeevana Indu: That was the hardest chapter of my life. My mother was diagnosed with cancer, and the medical bills were overwhelming. To support her treatments, I started selling fashion jewellery online after my office hours. It wasn’t born out of a grand entrepreneurial vision; it was born out of pure necessity. Every single parcel I packed back then carried hope for her recovery.

Tragically, after a brave two-year fight, she passed away in May 2017. Her loss shattered me, but it also fundamentally changed me. I refused to let grief define my future. I decided to take the small online jewelry hustle that supported her and turn it into something meaningful-a legacy that would outlive the hardships we faced. Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery is, in many ways, a tribute to her resilience.

TheCconnects: That is incredibly moving. Before fully diving into the jewellery brand, you and your husband, Prasad Sadhu, successfully ran a multi-cuisine restaurant in Bangalore. How did that experience prepare you for scaling Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery?

Jeevana Indu: Moving to Bangalore after marriage and taking over a Jain restaurant was my real-world MBA. Prasad and I completely transformed it. We scaled it across delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, handled massive catering orders, and eventually sold it at a profit. That venture taught me the mechanics of entrepreneurship: how to build, how to scale, and how to create tangible value.

When I finally poured all my focus into Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery, I applied those exact lessons. We started in a single small room. I photographed the inventory myself and obsessed over customer satisfaction. That room turned into a larger workspace, which became a warehouse, and today, it is a flagship store serving retail customers and supplying over 140 wholesale sellers globally. I learned that you don’t need inherited wealth or big investors to scale-you just need relentless consistency.

TheCconnects: Today, your digital handle, Pearls Speaks, boasts over 75,000 followers, and your brand is known for premium, handcrafted designs. What do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space today, and how does your brand cut through the noise?

Jeevana Indu: The biggest challenge in the digital space is the temptation to compete on price rather than value. The internet is flooded with fast, cheap products. When we launched Pearls Speaks, people asked what made us different. My answer has always been simple: Quality is never negotiable.

We address our customers’ desire for exclusivity. A bride doesn’t just want a piece of metal; she wants a premium gold-look choker, an intricate jada billalu, or an authentic handcrafted uncut kemp set that makes her feel like royalty. We don’t compete on price; we compete on trust, originality, and experience. In my opinion, luxury isn’t about how much a piece costs. Luxury is consistency. It is delivering excellence every single time a box is opened.

TheCconnects: Speaking of consistency, you managed to grow this massive enterprise without pausing for major life milestones, including motherhood. How did you navigate building a business while embracing your role as a new mother?

Jeevana Indu: I learned very quickly that entrepreneurship never follows perfect timing. You cannot put your dreams on hold waiting for the “right season.” I worked through my pregnancy, and after childbirth, I literally brought my newborn to the showroom. I would be attending to customers, managing supply chains, and feeding my baby all in the same space. It was incredibly demanding, but it taught me that women possess a unique, unbreakable capacity to nurture both a family and a vision simultaneously. Of course, I couldn’t have done it without my husband, Prasad. He believed in this vision before it was a brand, and his unwavering support is the foundation of our success.

TheCconnects: You have achieved so much, but you’ve mentioned that your vision extends beyond just opening more stores. What is the next chapter for Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery?

Jeevana Indu: We are actually in the process of rolling out franchise opportunities. We have seen a massive demand from passionate entrepreneurs who want to become part of the Swan family. However, my goal isn’t just blind expansion. I have always said I would rather build one extraordinary brand than many ordinary stores. I don’t believe in 99.9%-for me, excellence is 100%. Our vision is to build India’s most trusted destination for premium imitation jewellery, where every franchise upholds our uncompromising standards of quality and customer experience.

TheCconnects: As we wrap up this truly inspiring conversation, do you have any final advice for aspiring entrepreneurs out there?

Jeevana Indu: Never let your current circumstances dictate your ultimate potential. Every setback is a lesson, every obstacle is preparation, and every loss can be turned into fuel. When I look back, I don’t measure my success by revenue or awards; I measure it by the distance between where I started and where I stand today. If you refuse to stop believing and commit to relentless consistency, no circumstance is powerful enough to stop you.

TheCconnects: Those are powerful words to live by. Thank you so much for joining us today, Jeevana Indu. It has been an absolute privilege to learn about your journey, the heart behind Swan Hi-Fashion Jewellery, and your uncompromising vision for the future. We wish you and your brand continued, boundless success!

Jeevana Indu: Thank you so much for having me. It was a wonderful conversation, and I am so grateful to share my journey with TheCconnects and your wonderful readers.
